Behavior/Parent  & Student Rules:
We have these rules to help provide a friendly, safe and family oriented environment.  We do not like Drama…although we know things do happen, especially when we have a bunch of girls and women together and we try hard to nip any problems as soon as they arise but we try really hard to make things comfortable for everyone so please follow the parent/dancer guidelines.
1. It is imperative that parents realize that students do not benefit from being put in a higher level when they are not ready.  If anything, they develop some very bad habits.  Parents tend to look at their child through a parent eye not a technical eye.  We on the other hand, realize the importance of students being in their correct level as this is when they become solid in their training.  We are the professionals and know what is best for your dancer for physical and mental reasons so please allow us to do our job.  We will always be looking out for the best interest of your dancer and not the egos or convenience of the parent or the student!  We always attempt to place your dancer in the level fit for them specifically where they can grow and get the BEST training possible!
2. We do not a deal with gossip and/or bad mouthing of students, parents or teachers.  If we hear this is going on, in the lobby or outside of dance, depending on the severity of the situation, you and your dancer will be asked to leave the studio indefinitely!
3. No parent will control CSDA.  All opinions and ideas are welcome but do not try to push your way around the studio or around other parents as you will be asked to leave indefinitely.

We pride ourselves in being a family…a team…please respect these rules and guidelines as we always want you to have a happy experience at Center Stage Dance Academy… for you, your dancer and the other families here.  Thank you in advance!

Class Descriptions:

Ages 3, 4 and 5 - Combo Classes:
Invites young children to explore the love and excitement of dance through songs, games and expressive movement.  The class introduces basic rhythm, coordination and listening skills as well as pre-ballet and tap concepts.

Ballet
Ballet is the critical foundation of all forms of dance and helps build grace, control and poise through its discipline.  Class consists of barre, adage and allegro.  Ballet is recommended for all dancers to take in addition to whatever class they chose because of its technical value.  You will not be the BEST dancer you can be without it.  Students may advance to Pointe when they are 12 yrs of age, have a doctor's approval, and acceptance from the Director.

Tap
Rhythm is in!!!  Tap has evolved from the stepping kick lines of the Rockettes, into the urban sounds of Tap Dogs and Stomp - where any surface will do and rhythm is everywhere.  Basic exercises and rhythm techniques are explored within varied musical styles.

Jazz/Lyrical Jazz
Jazz is America's contribution to the dance world, having borrowed from modern, ballet, theatre and street dance to emerge into the ever changing contemporary styles or today.  Jazz students learn through isolation, barre and floor stretches, turns, jumps and combinations.  Lyrical Jazz is similar but students learn how to express their bodies using their torso, chest, neck, head, legs and arms to show the feeling and emotion of the lyrics being portrayed in the song.  It is a very emotional type of dance and very beautiful.

Hip Hop
If you are inspired by the movements of music videos on MTV and VH1, this is the class for you.  You will learn through isolations, stretch, floor combinations and the newest of street styles through this fun, high energy class set to the sounds of today's hottest music.

This class is a fun combination of singing, acting and dancing.  You will learn how to carry a tune while dancing to fun upbeat show tunes and broadway  style music.  Experiment what its like to sing onstage live. . . Get a taste of what its like to be on BROADWAY!

Cardio Hip Hop
Want to build your stamina and endurance for dance or maybe just burn some calories?  This class will do it.  Set to fun, upbeat music you will be on a timer going from station to station alternating jogging/movement techniques with crunches, jumping jacks, push ups, etc.  This class is recommended to all Company students over the age of 10 and any adults who just want to enjoy the exercise!

Teacher Training Program
This certification program is a 2 yr program offered to students over the age of 16 with previous, serious dance training.  With the director's approval, you will assist classes available to you for a period of time until the director feels you are ready to move onto your own class.  All students start off with a young, recreational class so do not expect to start teaching Intermediate, older classes.  This is just to get you the experience you need to train others properly, safely and effectively.  You will also learn the skills on how to interview for Instructor positions, get your resume ready and headshot information and the ins and outs of the dance world.   Once graduated from the program, you will receive a certificate and depending on employment opportunities, offered a paid class through Center Stage Dance Academy.  An Interview process must be set up and passed through to join this program.  This is a non paying/volunteer training program and the student must be a dancer with CSDA the entire 2 year program to even be considered.
