Mrs. Janet grew up in Southern California and started taking dance at age 7. She studied Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Tap for several years in Bakersfield, California. At age 12, she moved to Hesperia, California and that is when her dreams of becoming a Professional Dancer and Teacher/Choreographer were inspired. She danced and competed for 7 years at Dance Dynamics under Jeanette Wheeler, daughter to the owner of Darbo Dance Wear, as well as cheering and dancing for her Jr. High and High School Dance Teams. After graduating early from High School, she attended Victor Valley College where she danced as a Rams Song Leader.
In 1994, she auditioned and was cast for the part in the Disneyland "Lion King" Parade which was cut short due to her being accepted on scholarship to Santa Barbara University to study modern, Lyrical and Jazz. Mrs. Janet continued her dance career by dancing at local studios and workshops.
In 1997, she decided to broaden her dance career by moving to Las Vegas. She has taught at several Las Vegas Dance studios including Desert Shores Dance Academy, A to Z Dance, Nevada Ballet Theatre, A Broadway Theatre Company and Kids In Motion Dance Studio. She has taught several performance teams and won many High Point, Overall and Specialty awards including Top Teacher 2005, Best Choreography 2007 and Best Lyrical 2005, 2006 and 2007. Mrs. Janet broadens her teaching and choreography by attending local seminars and dance workshops as well as taking adult classes at Backstage Dance Studio for Adults. She also helps local high school Cheer and Dance teams with choreography including Centennial High School's Dance Fusion and Arbor View High School's Freshman, JV and Varsity Cheer.
She enjoys sharing her talent and passion for dance with dancers of all ages and levels. She has a personality that is quite unique and can relate to every age from the tiniest of tots to the teenagers and can still be the adult she has to be! It has been her dream to run her own dance studio and Janet is VERY excited to be the proud owner of CENTER STAGE DANCE ACADEMY!
Mrs. Janet enjoys the outdoors (hiking, camping, etc.), catching up on the latest dance moves at seminars/workshops, taking adult classes to keep dancing for herself and absolutely loves spending time with her hubby Matt and her three amazing boys, Aaron, Ashton and Aydan! Her favorite style of dance is Lyrical Jazz but she loves every style of dance. Her favorite things to do are: sleep, dance, go to the beach, movies and hang out with her dance family!
