Mrs. Janet grew up in Southern California and started taking dance at age 6. She has studied Ballet/Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip-Hop and Tap for several years throughout southern California.
At age 12, her dreams of becoming a Professional Dancer and Teacher/Choreographer were inspired. She danced and competed for 7 years at Dance Dynamics under Jeanette Wheeler and staff, as well as cheering and dancing for her Jr. High and High School Dance Teams.
She trained with several master teachers and believes that she reached her fullest potential from training with a varitey of teachers and strives to provide that same training at CSDA. After graduating early from High School, she attended Victor Valley College where she danced as a Rams Song Leader and in 1994, she auditioned and was cast for the part in the Disneyland "Lion King" Parade which was cut short due to her being accepted on scholarship to Santa Barbara University to study modern, Lyrical and Jazz.
Mrs. Janet continued her dance career by dancing at local studios and workshops and master classes and assisting master teachers.
In 1997, she decided to go for it and start her dance teaching career by moving to Las Vegas where she immediately got hired as an instructor and has been doing it ever since.
She has always had a passion for sharing her choreography with others and watching her ART come to life through her dancers. Janet's training did not end there, she continued to train and dance under several master teachers while teaching and choreographing at several Las Vegas & southern California dance studios.
She has led her dancers to win several specialty and high point awards and has won many High Point, Overall and Specialty awards for her choreography including Top Teacher 2005 & 2011, Best Choreography 2007, 2009 and 2010 and Best Lyrical 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2011.
Center Stage has won several overall studio awards including 2011 TOP ELITE studio at Kids Artistic Revue and TOP OVERALL studio at Dance Spectacular Dance Competition in 2009, 2010 and now 2011!
Her dancers have taken many team spirit awards, sportsmanship awards and showmanship awards. Lead by Mrs. Janet, Center Stage PRIDES itself in being a family, not just a dance studio and always having a good attitude towards our competitors and fellow dancers. You will never be told to ignore or put down other dance studios at CSDA, in the dance world, she believes everyone is out for the same purposes and we should support each other!
Several of her dancers have gone onto dance in college, become teachers themselves and become great people as well as dancers. Janet believes DANCE creates life long friendships, great values and life skills as well as the self confidence to go out and take the world on.
Mrs. Janet broadens her teaching and choreography by attending dance workshops/master classes as well as taking class at Backstage Dance Studio in Las Vegas and Steps and Broadway Dance Center in New York. Her passion is Contemporary dance. She also helps local high school Cheer and Dance teams with choreography including Centennial High School's Dance Fusion and Arbor View High School's Freshman, JV and Varsity Cheer.
She also judges for Regional Dance Competitions and is working on her certification with Dance Masters and Dance Educators of America.
It has been her dream to run her own dance studio and Janet is VERY excited to be the proud owner of CENTER STAGE DANCE ACADEMY , which opened in August of 2008! She absolutely loves spending time with her hubby Matt and her three amazing boys, Aaron, Ashton and Aydan who all share her love and passion for dance! Janet says...
